“Do you like it?” Ivan asked. Lisa didn’t want to look, but she did anyway, if for no other reason than to please Ivan. The detail was incredible, nearly alive. She started to cry. Ivan set his towel down and took her head in his hands. He pulled her close to him, letting her chin rest on his shoulder. She sobbed and sobbed. Minutes passed. He never let her go, never pushed her away. He held her until she was ready. “Thank you,” she said. “Thank you so much.” “I hope it helps,” he said. Lisa sniffled and leaned back in the chair. She’d bled some more, but Ivan cleaned her up again. “When will The Change start?” she asked. “Tonight. When the moon rises.”
